Yes I said it. Suspended Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon is going to be using his time wisely during his lengthy vacation and start selling cars for a local car dealership.
Gordon was named the "Goodwill Ambassador" for the Sarchione Auto Group in Randolph, Ohio recently. Part of his job will be as an on-floor car salesman and will be the headline in most of the groups local efforts such as a gathering for "Wounded Warriors".
If his car selling game is nearly as good as his football game, he may have a secondary career already lined up, receiving passes of keys from his boss for a test run with a customer instead of passes from Brian Hoyer or Johnny Manziel. Running out for Chinese food on lunch break instead of running an out at 130 pm on a Sunday afternoon.
It's a little funny to say the least as he has had multiple run ins and traffic stops, most notably and recently being the car switch and DUI he received after switching vehicles with troubled NBA player P.J. Hariston.
Jokes aside, there are worse things that Gordon could be doing with his time off. He's already been suspended for smoking marijuana and his impending DUI, so that would be a start. Devoting his time to a job and work environment can only help his cause as he looks to re-enter the NFL next year. Showing that he can maintain a regular life outside of the NFL without running in with the law will only strengthen his case for an eventual return. He's still just 25 years old and hasn't reached his prime years as an NFL receiver but as long as he stays on course going forward, there is no reason to think he couldn't return to his dominate form again.
Or else he may actually become that All-Pro salesman...
